This client’s master suite was recently transformed with new hardwoods, paint, bedding, upholstery and draperies, all inspired by the purchase of a fine royal blue and gold hand-knotted area rug. A large empty wall remained, immediately across from the king-size bed screaming for art. With a large oil-painting already on another wall, the room needed another form of art. We decided on glass art.
We met with a former Chihuly apprentice, now with her own glass art studio in the Dallas Design District. My client fell in love with the artist’s “glass blossoms”. With the goal of having blossoms incorporated into “one large work”, we designed a custom-welded, gold-rubbed iron branch to connect eight individual blossoms. After custom-selecting the colors, five members of my client’s family gathered at the glass studio to participate in making the blossoms.
The final step was to add art lighting to illuminate the piece which casts shadows almost as interesting as the art itself.
Not only does my client have a beautiful and unique piece of art to wake up to each morning, she has a family memory she will always treasure.
