In 2012 we created my client’s “lifetime favorite kitchen” with beautiful materials, high-end appliances and well-thought-out flow and function. In 2016, she downsized and her biggest concern was leaving behind her perfect kitchen.
We put our heads together to make the most of her smaller space. We installed new cabinets to the ceiling to create more storage. We lit the top row and painted her cabinets white to visually enlarge them. We lowered her breakfast bar to counter-height to expand working and eating space and open the view between her kitchen and nook. By squaring off her breakfast bar, we were able to enlarge her island and add a microwave drawer making room for a stunning gas range, a textured stone backsplash from counter to ceiling and a high-function stainless steel vent hood.
A desk awkwardly positioned in a walkway was replaced with a wet-bar in a spot with easy access from the kitchen, family room or casual dining.
New stainless appliances, Libra granite, a contrasting leather-finish island countertop, polished nickel plumbing fixtures and hardware, oversize 12×24 porcelain tile with a complementary textured stone backsplash and a new fandelier all contribute to the room’s on-trend appeal.
My client is happily enjoying her new “all-time favorite” kitchen.
