A Welcoming Reading Retreat

My client’s library in his previous home was a place to store books but to sit only for a few moments, rather uncomfortably.  Just off his entry, the library was the first room in view when walking through the front door.  In his new home in Texas, the layout was similar.  Our objective was to create a beautiful space just off his entry, that would make visitors feel welcome.  Likewise we wanted the room to serve as an inviting place for my client to read a book, put his feet up and linger.

Custom built cabinets provide both illuminated display space for ambience and practical hidden storage space for his most treasured books.

Beautiful plantation shutters replaced utilitarian wood blinds.  Comfortable Jessica Charles chairs and ottoman and a Kravet area rug make the space cozy.  Original commissioned art provides the pop of color we selected against his neutral backdrop.

An Arteriors table, table lamp and starburst flush-mount chandelier put the punctuation marks on his beautiful room, with the polished nickel Zanadoo ceiling fixture creating a unique light and shadow effect on his walls and ceiling.
